ALBAYRAK TANELİK HYBRID CORN FIELD DAY WAS HELD.
A "Field Day Event" was organized on 12.09.2017 in the field of Bergama Tarım KRedi Kooperatifleri partner İsmail Gediz, for the new grain hybrid corn ALBAYRAK variety, which was improved by our company and registered by the Ministry of Food, Agricul-ture and Livestock in 2017 and included in the production program. Bergama District Governor Osman CANATAN, Bergama Food, Agriculture and Livestock District Manager Adem AKLAR, TURKEY Tarım KRedi Kooperatifleri Central Union Chairman of the Board Selahattin KÜLCÜ, Supply Department Head İlyas KILIÇ,Tarım KRedi Kooperatifleri Balıkesir Regional Manager Vedat ALTIN, Tareks General Manager Burhanettin TOP-SAKAL, Deputy General Manager Kamil YILMAZ, Managers of the Central Union of Tarım KRedi Kooperatifleri, İzmir and Balıkesir Regional Unions, Kooperatif officials, Tareks personnel and cooperative partners from İzmir, Manisa, Balıkesir and Aydın provinces, around 300 farmers attended.
At the field day event, which attracted great interest from our farmers and started with the opening speeches of Tareks General Manager Burhanettin TOPSAKAL, Ber-gama District Governor Osman CANATAN and Tarım KRedi Kooperatifleri Central Union Chairman Selahattin KÜLCÜ also addressed the farmers. In his speech, Burhanettin TOPSAKAL gave information about TAREKS, explained what has been done for 36 years to ensure that our farmers have access to the highest quality seeds at the most affordable cost, and said that they have brought many superior productive, high quality and disease resistant varieties to our country in wheat, barley, potato and hybrid corn. Tareks has started hybrid corn seed studies since 1999, the breeding station was established in 2009, and the Corn Seed Processing and Packaging Facto-ry was established in 2010. As a result of these studies, local silage corn seed varie-ties were registered in 2014 and local grain varieties were registered in 2017. He stated that they have reached a level where they can compete with other companies.
Burhanettin TOPSAKAL, who thanked the Central Union General Directorate, Regional Directorates, Kooperatif employees and also our farmers for their support in produc-tion, sales, marketing and infrastructure creation so far, completed his speech by saying "IF YOU WANT TO TAKE CARE OF YOUR FUTURE, TAKE CARE OF YOUR OWN SEED".
Following the speech of Bergama district governor Osman CANATAN, in which he ex-pressed his satisfaction with the local corn seed Albayrak Field Day event and his satisfaction with meeting with our farmers, Selahattin KÜLCÜ, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Central Union of Tarım Kredi Kooperatifleri addressed the farmers.
In his speech, President KÜLCÜ stated that Tarım Kredi Kooperatifleri have 12 Affiliate Companies, and that the mission of these Companies is to produce the highest quality inputs for farmers at the most affordable prices, not only to sell but also to evaluate the products of farmers. Stating that the companies act as regulators in the market, President KÜLCÜ stated that the Kooperatif will not be closed anymore, and that they are even planning to open new ones to serve more farmers. Stating that he is also a farmer and that he finds the studies that contribute to reducing our country's de-pendence on foreign sources in seed production important for our country's agricul-ture and our future, he said that these varieties, which Tareks has bred and regis-tered as a result of R&D studies, have been registered and started to be produced, and that he wants to protect these varieties from other companies' varieties in terms of yield and quality difference. "I request our farmers to use these local varieties, which have no difference," he said.
Mayor KÜLCÜ wished that Tareks' hybrid corn variety called ALBAYRAK, which is red-coloured, would be beneficial to our country's farmers and thanked everyone for their participation, and then toured the field where the Field Day was held.
Tareks Deputy General Manager Kamil YILMAZ stated that Tareks has increased its research and infrastructure development activities in recent years, with the aware-ness that R&D studies and plant breeding studies are vitally important in order to take part in our country's seed industry and the global seed market and to compete with international companies. In this context, TK 6063 silage and TK 6060 grain varieties, which were developed and improved at the Research Station in Balıkesir/Altınova, were registered in 2014, ALBAYRAK and LİLA grain varieties were registered and put into production in 2017, R&D studies, production and seed activities and the technical development of ALBAYRAK corn seed variety. He gave information to the participants about its features and productivity capacity.
In addition, in the trials and demonstrations of the ALBAYRAK variety carried out un-der farmer conditions for three years and in the official trials carried out by the Minis-try, the yield potential of the ALBAYRAK variety has increased to 2173 kg per decare in some regions, and the average yield is around 1500 kg per decare. He stated that it is drought tolerant.
After the speeches, the delegation and the farmers, who visited the field, learned about ALBAYRAK corn seed from Tareks officials, expressed their satisfaction after the dinner given by the company, and left the area where the field day was held.
