TAREKS Tohum, a subsidiary of Turkish Tarım Kredi Kooperatifleri, signed an agree-ment with a company operating in Uzbekistan to export grain and silage corn seeds worth approximately $600,000. Thus, TAREKS Seed, which doubled its exports to Uz-bekistan in 2021, set its export target for 2022 as 1,000,000 dollars.
TAREKS Tohum continues to contribute to the country's agriculture with its modern production infrastructure in its sector, R&D studies, investments in hybrid corn, grains (wheat, barley, triticale, etc.), potatoes, chickpeas and some forage crops, and a production and seed processing capacity of 40,000 tons.
TAREKS Tohum also prioritizes projects that will reduce foreign dependency and in-crease productivity, especially through R&D activities.
TAREKS became competitive with R&D investments
TAREKS, which produces added value for the country's agriculture and the future of farmers with the special seed varieties it has developed through its R&D studies in recent years, has reached a level to compete with international companies in the sec-tor and exports hybrid corn seeds by developing competitive varieties with the do-mestic hybrid corn development projects it has carried out.
Corn seeds local and hybrid
TAREKS, which carries out its corn seed activities with its corn seed breeding station and seed drying-processing facility located in Altınova/Balıkesir, produces local and national hybrid corn varieties, which it has bred and developed especially in the R&D Center it established in 2009.
The production and marketing activities of corn seeds for grain and silage, which it offers to farmers, are carried out with more than 10 varieties that it has bred.
Corn seed export to 7 countries
TAREKS tohum adds new varieties to its seed portfolio every year and offers these varieties for sale in the market. While the company continues its efforts to increase exports, especially since 2019, hybrid corn seeds are currently exported to 7 different countries.
In Uzbekistan, where the company exported corn seeds in 2021, its grain and silage varieties won the appreciation of farmers and attracted attention with their high yield results. Within the framework of 2022 export plans, as a result of the negotiations held under the coordination of TAREKS Tohum Chairman Dr Ahmet Bağcı and General Manager Burhanettin Topsakal, an agreement was signed with a company operating in Uzbekistan to export grain and silage varieties worth approximately 600,000 dol-lars.
Doubled its export target
TAREKS Tohum, which doubled its exports to Uzbekistan for 2021 with the signed agreement, set its export target for 2022 as 1,000,000 dollars.
While TAREKS, one of the affiliates of Tarım Kredi Kooperatifleri, reduces foreign de-pendency in agriculture by meeting the seed needs of our farmers with the seed varie-ties it develops, produces and markets, it also contributes to the country's economy by selling hybrid corn seeds abroad, especially with its recent work.
