NEW GRAIN VARIETY- (High yield, low moisture and temporary)
TK KUM 

Our company Tarım Kredi Tohumculuk A.Ş. was established in the field of Celal Gökçe, one of the partners of Yeniköy Tarım Kredi Kooperatifi numbered 2143, affiliated with Gaziantep Regional Union of Tarım Kredi Kooperatifleri. A triple demonstration study was carried out with the TK KUM grain corn seed, which was improved and developed by the Altınova Research Station at the Altınova Research Station, registered by the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry on 28.04.2020 and included in the production program, with two varieties belonging to the rival companies most planted in the re-gion.
In this model production area, planting was done on 26.03.2021 and harvest was carried out on 29.08.2021. The field harvest was attended by Tarım Kredi Kooperati-fleri  Gaziantep Regional Deputy Manager Hasan ŞENTÜRK, Yeniköy Tarım Kredi Man-ager Fatih Okumuş and Agricultural Engineer Hasan Uslu, Narlı Tarım Kredi Kooperati-fleri Manager Agricultural Engineer Ali Demir, Agricultural Engineer Mehmet Özgür, Kooperatif Officer Ahmet Şahin, Türkoğlu Tarım Kredi Kooperatifleri  Manager Serap. Arıcan, Agricultural Engineer Mustafa Kılınç, Kahramanmaraş Tarım Kredi Kooperati-fleri  Manager Agricultural Engineer Muzaffer Topuz, Agricultural Engineer Samet Çakır, Tevekelli Tarım Kredi Kooperatifleri Official Berrin Gök, Kooperatif Officer Ahmet Yıldız, Tareks Regional Officer Faruk ÇELİK and farmers in the region participated.

As a result of the harvest, the yield of our variety "TK Kum" was above the regional average with 1600 kg/da with 16% moisture. As for the varieties belonging to com-peting companies, one yielded 1,500 kg/da with 15% Moisture, and the other yielded 1,350 kg/da with 17% Moisture.
The prominent features of our TK KUM variety are that it is in the FAO 670-680 maturi-ty group, it is approximately 2.7-3.0 meters long, its grain color is dark amber and glassy, it sheds harvest moisture quickly, it stays green at harvest and it keeps the cobs at the middle lower level. It is resistant to lodging and impresses with its high yield per unit area, in the range of 76-81% per hectolitre.
