Within the scope of the breeding program of local corn varieties that started in 2009 at our company's Balıkesir/Altınova Research Station, two types of corn varieties, one for silage, have been produced so far.

Two new grain varieties were registered.
TK KUM and TK ALTINOVA
Within the scope of the breeding program of local corn varieties that started in 2009 at our company's Balıkesir/Altınova Research Station, a total of 7 varieties have been registered to date, including two early corn varieties, one silage corn, three main products and a second product early grain corn variety.
Two new varieties developed from the ongoing domestic hybrid corn varieties breed-ing program, one of which is the main product, late and in the FAO 700 mortality group, and the other is the second product, early and in the FAO 620 mortality group, were registered in 2020.
TK KUM: The late grain corn variety was registered by the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry as a result of two-year registration trials established in Adana, Samsun, Bursa, Balıkesir and Sakarya locations.
In the variety registration trials carried out by the Ministry, our variety gave the highest yields in the locations of 1,813.4 kg/da (Sakarya), 1,788 kg/da (Adana) and 1,744 kg/da (Balıkesir), and the average yield is 1,518 kg/da. Harvest grain moisture varies depending on location, but it is between 14.6 - 24%, and it has the same har-vest grain moisture as other varieties widely planted in the market.
TK ALTINOVA: Our early grain corn variety was registered by the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry as a result of two-year registration trials established in Şanlıurfa, K.Maraş, Mardin, Sakarya Manisa locations.
The average yield of our variety, which gave the highest yield in the Şanlıurfa location with 1,311 kg/da in the registration trials carried out by the Ministry, is 1,114 kg/da and has an equivalent yield to the standard varieties widely planted in the market. Although harvest grain moisture varies depending on location, it is between 16.2 - 26.5% and has the same harvest grain moisture as other varieties widely planted in the market.
It is recommended as grain corn in the Southeastern region as the second product, in our Western Regions for late main crop planting, and in our Central regions and Thrace Region as the main product.
